Privacy policy

We publish servicing guidance. We do not service loans, so we do not hold the financial information a servicer would hold.

Section 01Who we are

Section 02Information we collect

Nothing to read the guides. No account is required and none is requested.
Contact form submissions: the name, email address, subject and message you provide, with a timestamp and the network address of the request.
Account registration: name, email address, and a one-way cryptographic hash of your password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered.
Server logs: requested URLs, timestamps, network addresses, referrers and user agent strings, in the ordinary course of operating a web server.

Section 03What we never collect

We do not ask for and do not want loan account numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account or card details, income, balances or credit information. There is no feature on this site that needs them. If a page appearing to be this site asks you for any of that, it is not this site — close it and tell us.

Section 04How we use information

To respond to correspondence; to operate and secure the account area; to keep the site running and protect it from abuse; and to understand in aggregate which guides are read, so we know what to write next. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal information.

We disclose personal information only to service providers who host or operate the site on our behalf under obligations of confidentiality, and where required by law or legal process or to protect our rights or the safety of others. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not pass reader details to lenders, servicers or lead buyers. If the publication is sold or merged, information may transfer with it and this policy continues to apply until replaced by notice to you.

Section 06Cookies

A session cookie is set when you sign in to the account area. It holds an opaque session identifier and expires when the session ends. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts that service when a page loads. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, this section will say so before it takes effect.

Section 07Retention

Correspondence is kept while it remains useful for reply and record-keeping, then deleted. Account records are kept until you ask for deletion. Server logs are rotated on a short operational cycle.

Section 08Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, to opt out of any sale or sharing (we do neither), and to complain to a supervisory authority. Write to [email protected] from the address on the record. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.

Section 09Security

Passwords are stored only as hashes produced by a modern one-way algorithm. Access to stored correspondence is restricted. No system is perfectly secure and we make no claim otherwise; our principal control is holding as little as possible.

Section 10Children

This site is intended for adults and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be deleted.

Section 11Changes

Material changes will be posted here with a revised date. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
